  • Before they ran they did not have a clue on what was going on so they fought back.
  • When they began to run they only ran at night
  • There were many rescuers that helped them hide from the Nazi's
  • The rescuers put a lot on the line for the Jew if they were caught by the Nazi's they would be arrested or killed
  • Much help came from the Dutch and Japanese diplomats that offered a lot of help to the Jews
  • There were many people that wanted to let the Jews know what was happening.

    But they did not send that many letters out to the Jews
  • The pamphlets that were sent out to the Jews were single sheets
  • If the press is found it would be found out the shop would be closed down and owners arrested
  • during the searches the Danes helped to hide the Jews
  • The Jews ran to the near by woods to escape the arrests
  • some Jews even looked for people who had big boats
  • The Jews were also hidden in private homes and hotels
  • The Nazi's didn't want the Jews to be killed because they wanted to be able to work
  • If they were old they would be arrested and then killed
  • Many Jews told the Nazi's they were younger than their age or if they were young they said they were older
  • Varion Fry was a big supporter of rescues
