Born 6:30 on April 20, 1889 in small Austrian village
Lived in Linz, Austria
Had 2 brothers and 1 sister
Big Bro got beaten and ran away
Adolf got beaten by father
Moved to Lambach, Austria at age 7
Did well in monastery school and also in choir
Idolized priests and thought about becoming a priest
At 9 got into schoolboy mischief
Smoked and forgiven and not punished
Playing Indians and Cowboys was his favorite
Read and re-read Old Shatterhand
Turned into a argumentative little ring leader
1898 moved to Leonding, Austria
Noticed that he was a good artist
Made excellent sketches of bldgs.
Hitler's II took side with Boer's against English in fake war
Boy that loved warplay now saw real death
Wanted to show dad he was unsuited for tech school
Emphasis on math and science and became an artist
Thought father saw little improvement in tech school
Frequent arguments between young Hitler and father
Dream to become artist solved all present day problems
Stubborn father refused to listen
Bitter struggle between father and son began
Began 2nd year in school being the oldest
Gave Adolf advantage over other boys
Joined the Baurian Army
After 2 months training, saw war
Narrowly escaped death in battle
Only rose to lance corporal
Wounded by enemy shell on Oct. 1916
Evacuated to a Berlin area hospital
Temporaraly blinded by mustard gas attack
Commy inspired insurrections shook Germany while Hitler was in recovry
Some Jews were leaders of these abortive revolutions
Inspired hatred of jews and commys
On Nov. 9 Kaiser abdictated
Socialists gained control of the government
Anarchy was more the rule in the cities
Hitler was the most brutal dictator of Germany
After war, he became a democratic/republic
Hitler received 30% of votes out of 4 candidates
70% Germans voted against Hitler
Party circles badly depressed and dejected
Hitler lost, but still got larger number of votes
Still rejected by German people
Hitler and his Nazi party determined to establish dictatorial rule
Did everything to create chaos in streets
Situation got so bad that martial law was proclaimed in Berlin
Hitler lost election while larger groups won
Hitler's party won 230 seats in Reichstag
Nazi's lost votes and 34 seats
Even though they were the largest party
Jan. 30, 1933, Hitler became chancellor
Persuaded Hidenburg to give him all powers
March 23, 1933, Hitler became dictator
Started extermination of Jews
Made concentration camps and small ghettos
Later he shot himself through the mouth
