  • Sobibor was a killing center designed for killing as many Jews as possible.
  • It was built in a woody, swampy area.

  • The dead bodies were buried in deep trenches.
  • In the summer of 1942 the bodies were dug up out of the trenches and burned so there was no more evidence that sobibor was ever there.

  • Belzec was one of the reinhard camps as well as Treblinka.
  • While the bodies were dug up and burned the ashes of the bodies were thrown in the river at night.
  • Sobibor was divided into three main parts the administration area, the reception area, and the killing area.
  • Killing areas included gas chambers, mass graves, and barracks for the prisoners.
  • There was a path that was called the "Tube".
  • The Tube lead from the reception area to the gas chambers.
  • The people were told to undress and then run through the tube where they got gassed with carbon monoxide.

  • After they were killed they were thrown into mass graves
  • Also thrown on open fires

  • Code given to Nazi plan to murder Polish Jews in general Government
  • Also marked use of extermination camps
  • Hypothesized that the operation named after SS-Obergruppenfuhrer
  • Extermination process in Belzec, Sobibor, and Treblinka similar method
  • All camps looked the same
  • About 2 million Jews lost there lives
  • 700,000,000 of Jews property was stolen
  • Ended in November 1942
