Without this, we'd simply be robots under his command.  The problem with free choice is that we can abuse it.  Hitler did.  What I'm saying is that God is not allowing himself to control us.  If he did there would be no way to distinguish a Hitler from say, a Martin Luther King Jr.  That is why many of the terrible things that happened in the world were allowed to happen.
